Guide /Install the desktop app

Install the desktop app

Download the PublishPort desktop app, sign in, and keep it running in the background — the first step to letting your AI publish for you.

The desktop app is the foundation of everything. Platform logins happen here, and your AI publishes through it — using the real browser and accounts on your own machine. Get it installed and connected, and every step after this just works.

Download the installer

Open the download page. It detects your operating system and offers the right installer:

  • macOS: grab the .dmg and drag it into Applications.
  • Windows: grab the .exe and double-click to install.

If your system warns about an “unknown developer” or blocks the install, that’s the normal prompt for a new app that hasn’t built up download volume yet — not a security problem. On macOS, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. On Windows, in the SmartScreen prompt click More info → Run anyway.

Create an account and sign in

The first time you open the app, it asks you to sign up or log into a PublishPort account. Register with an email — this account only exists to securely pair your computer with your AI. We never touch the passwords for your content platforms.

Once you’re in, you’ll see two main areas:

  • Platform accounts — where you log into X, Reddit, LinkedIn, and the others you use.
  • Connect AI — where you get the address to hand to Claude and other AIs.

Keep it running in the background

Publishing happens when your AI drives your machine on demand, so the app needs to be online. It can launch on startup and stay connected in the background (on by default), so you can forget about it — closing the window keeps it running.

To check it’s ready, look at the status under Connect AI: when it says Local executor connected, your machine is available to your AI.
